Man, Prince Harry, what a fuckin moron. nuf said.

I dated this guy once who's dad was a WWII history teacher. I went over to meet his parents, and I had to use the toilet. I was told it was upstairs, second door on the right down the hall. Well, I was nosy and young and stupid and I saw a door ajar, so I went investigating. I opened up the door and it was fuckin heil Hitler - swastika flags on every wall, medals, uniforms, knives, all sorts of nazi ceremonial shit. It freaked me right out, my first instinct was to run but I just kind of stood there paralyzed instead. Seriously, it was just weird and highly uncomfortable and afterward it just felt funky around his parents. His dad explained later that he was in the process of writing a book, he was so inspired by this ss uniform that he picked up earlier that year... I don't remember much of the premise other than it was revisionist history bullshit... to this day I wonder if he ever knew I was Jewish.

hahahahaha thats a great story whirly!!!! sounds like something out of curb your enthusiasm!!!

i am very interested in all things WWII,well not all things but some stuff! i picked up a nazi pis a few years ago, in an auction, its a lapel badge that a nazi sympatiser would have worn. i love things like that cause i wonder what the story behind it is...my ex's granny is german and she was on the last train out of germany before hitler closed the borders(she was rich!!) but i think she has an infamous "nazi plate" with the swastika on the back, she wont say though! but they are worth so much!

any ways........

I worked with a WWII veteran a while back, this real jazz aficiando, he was an amazing fellow. He collected a lot of nazi memorabilia, a lot of it he got first hand from dead soldiers when he was on the front lines - so there was that creepy factor, everything he had in his collection was a sort of trophy with a story behind it. He never openly talked about his collection or anything, he didn't want people to think he was a nazi sympathizer, but we got to talking and he was afraid I would think differently of him - but I didn't. The war had a huge imapct on him, he tried very hard to get his head around the nazi mentality, what would drive ordinary people to do what they did.

I'm interested in a lot of things WWII that have to do with the nazi mentality as well. The whole psychology of that culture, and the impact it had on other cultures is really fascinating, I think that's why a lot of people have a genuine, innocent and human interest in it. What interests me more are the holocaust survivor stories, it was somewhat of an obsession for me a few years back. I have a lot of books on the subject, and it used to worry my friends when they'd come over and see these books on my shelf. Still though, they are very fascinating and heartbreaking reads. You learn a lot about the human spirit when you read stuff like that.

The english were the evil enemies, as propoganda proclaimed back then. As we all know propoganda is one of the best ways to influence a society.
