Looking at buses. Also thinking of biking from Toronto. Sound ridiculous? I rode from to Toronto to the top of Mt Washington 2 years ago. HAha, this is what happens when i'm unemployed. :D

Ha! That would be fucking EPIC if you rode from Toronto to Indio.

Epic, man.

I checked Greyhound prochem, and you would have to leave Toronto on the 15th before 4pm to get here on the 18th before 11am! Round trip is about $394!

I don't mean to rush, but we really need to get confirmations on who's going, on which days, and so forth to put this thing together.

Some of you mention you just wanna go Saturday and Whirly has expressed interest in attending all 3 days ( which is fantastic!). However, if its just me, Whirly, Stash, and possibly their relatives that are gonna be the only ones in on the full weekend (all three nights) for a house rental, we might just need to work something else out. Not that I have any problem with hanging with you're relatives, but rather the splitting of cost might turn out more then I initially expected and can afford.

There is a ton of other houses for rent, those where just a few I spotted while looking last night. We could also go redneck on this bitch, and rent a RV. But I'm too much of a wimp to drive a huge thing like that (however pending on gas cost, could be cheaper then a home rental).

About a month to go!

Im trying to sell my synth I bought for $2 the other day. Other ones are selling on ebay for $500, so if I can make the sale, i'll be there for sure. For now, i'm looking at biking. I think I might make history if I do it :D.

As for the bus, that one that inchem mentioned is just as expensive as a flight.

Also, I have experience driving an RV. I'd be down to do that.

Gotta love Canadians and their wandering spirits. ;) prochem - Darkstarexodus is from Winnipeg and he took the Greyhound all the way out to Indio (60 hours each way) to go to Coachella. So if you do it, that would be hard core! Airfare from Toronto to LA ranges from $419 to $500+ U.S.: http://www.cheaptick...ge=interstitial

Bosco - I will keep you posted just as soon as I have some confirmation. Saturday is a definite yes and I'm still working out the other days.

Don't count on my in-laws and Connor for the Friday, though. They still don't know if they're coming as tickets for the 3 of them just for the day are a lot. And if they do, they will probably either drive home afterward or they will crash in their own hotel. I love my son with all my heart and he's a cool kid but be to be honest - it wouldn't be fair to everyone else thinking they have to keep their fun weekend on the downlow because there's a child around.

An RV would be adventurous (yeeeeeehawww!) and would probably be kind of fun if you're road tripping the long miles. I believe the closest RV site to Coachella is the Lake Cahuilla campground which I'm nearly 100% positive you have to make reservations for. That place is kind of filthy though. Prior to when Coachella offered camping, we met up with some friends who camped at Lake Cahuilla and the next morning everything (and I mean, everything) was covered in a thin layer of black grime. No wonder, either. The line of traffic getting to and from the campground is a congested nightmare.

Yeah. A hotel might be the best option. We'll bring our air mattress.

There's always the dreaded Coachella campsite itself. I dig camping but I'm not keen on the idea of using a community shower, the campsite noise of drunken late night fuckwittery, the hot desert sun beating down in the morning, etc. etc. But we do have a 7 man tent and lost of earplugs.

Oh dear, not Cathedral City. There's a reason why it's $200 a night. It's seriously one of the most dangerous cities in California. Place is shady. I'd be worrieed we'd come home one of the days to find the place ransacked. Seriously.

hahaha prochem, if you rode your bike to Coachella, you'd get the hardcore of the century award!

OH wait - scratch my bickering about Cathedral City. I was thinking of National City (that place is a total shit hole - Cathedral City is all right, near Palm Springs)

I'll shut up now and start checking for rooms/rentals...

Palm Desert seems like it could be feasible and according to VRBO, the dates needed are available.

$100 a night, 2 bedroom villa in Palm Desert: http://www.vacations...operty_id=16853

$215 a night - this one's nice, 2 bedroom 2 bath: http://www.vacations...operty_id=18384

$150 a night (only 1 bedroom but still workable - we have an air mattress): http://www.vacations...operty_id=18384

Another $150: http://www.vacations...operty_id=22384

There's quite a bit more in the Palm Desert Area -

Picked up my ticket today!

I figured it out! I'm probably going drive there Saturday morning before the gates open, then stay somewhere (still looking)nearby to crash that night and leave Sunday afternoon. Not a dilemma yet but I wouldn't mind renting a house for the night and pitching in with any of you guys and girls!

They updated the homepage with a little Coachella love. Seems that the fans on the 'other' forum ignited the bros interest on coming down to Indio.

Power to the people!

$150-ish a night, is certainly what I like to see. I just wonder if the owners would mind a influx of people crashing in on one day (Saturday).

I have no problem with camping on site. I did it last year and it worked out better then I could imagine. Not to mention cheap. I can assure you the showers are decently clean and are all private shower stalls. The drunken idiots at night/early morning can be easily muted by a nice pair of earplugs (Supposedly, I slept through a campground drunken drum march last year). But, THE WORST part of camping is of course the port-a-potties. For guys it's ok, as long as you don't have the runs.... But, I truly feel bad for the females when it comes to the port-a-potties. It's atrocious.

Oh yeah, and camping sucks if you plan on sleeping in. By no later then 9-10am you're up because of the heat. But then again thats perfect time to get up, take a shower, grab a bite to eat, and get ready for a day of awesome music.

yeah, toilets are awful. Especially on the third day of a festival. The best to do is going in town to a bar or something (when the festival is close enough to a town) and do your thing there :)
