Chemical Brothers live, there *IS* no substitute. I've seen the Prodigy live at the same venue, but the Chems rock a lot harder. It's just different, more complete. When they come again, I'm there again.

Aye great gig, nice venue but seats seem strange, glad I was in the standing section.
The sound in that place is sublime, I was suprised at the set tho,not quite as hard or pumping as they play in Scotland?.
Suprised at how reserved the Dutch are as well?, standing in social circles with trays of beer and not much jumping or chucking shapes,If yer nat dancing them give me some room . I had a great time but just a litle culture shocked.
Hope they play in Glasgow again before long.

McRooty , i told you! Very reserved indeed. They only go off when like , the big build ups and songs like HBHG and stuff.
I actually have some scottish and german blood running trough my veins , so that explains why i go mental.
I went to Awakenings festival yesterday tho, wich is the most amazing dance festival in the world ( itd really THE best ) and 18.000 people raved SO hard!
Den_B...Thanks So much for that wonderfull report.
You're a really cool kid to! Not afraid to be emotional. You remind me of myself when i was 16! My mum and all the others really likes you also! I was so happy when i saw youre eyes full of happiness at the gig! Now you've been Chemicalized!

Just back from Amsterdam! What a show.Bit of a culture shock though.Jeannie,I bow to your superior knowledge, you were absolutely correct about the Dutch crowd, they were very sedate and mellow.Due to those bloody beer token machines we only got into the packed hall just as they were halfway through No Path To Follow.Thought the venue and sound was superb. The new songs were great too.Though with not many people knowing them that probably didnt help the crowd either.Tom and Ed were amazing as always,I think they probably know that different crowds react differently so they would have gone into the show not exactly expecting a riot!Only song they didnt do that I was hoping for was Das Spiegel but we did surprisingly get AMMC instead. The build up of Get Yourself High into HBHG was awesome and Jeannie if you recall what that moment was like then all I can tell you is that when this show comes to Electric Picnic in Ireland its gonna be an hour and a half of that moment THROUGHOUT!Having seen it now i'm already counting the days til September 1st when they come here. It'll be wild. And of course there's a simple explanation for the difference in the crowds : a Dutch crowd (who can legally have a beer at 5am,smoke a spliff whenever they want and visit a red light area if they so wish) are always gonna be more laid back about things in general than say,an Irish crowd (who cant do any of the above)so when the Chems bring a rave to Ireland people treat it like it might be the last one ever.We have an old saying ,"What is seldom, is wonderful"

I went to the show with my little brother.. it was his first concert (he just turned 15) and I gave him a ticket to the concert as a birthday present.. Needless to say that when Push the Button kicked in he almost lost it, and I saw the little guy get a overdose of coolness.. Every single second of the concert was amazing, and we had a great time.. the new song Saturate and The Sunshine Underground were personal highlights for me, but there wasnt a song which I didnt like.. Sometimes the high tones were a bit to high, but hey, overall the sound was amazing!
The crowd was indeed a bit mellow, but that could also be because of all the different sorts of people who were there.. We (the dutch) have a really broud taste of music and maybe in england the Chems are more for the party people and not so much for the "average joe".. I've been to quite a few concerts in different genres and I always meet and see alot of different people in different agegroups.. that explains the laid back vibe in the venue but also the lack of complete crazyness.. If your looking for complete chaos it's best to go to the front because all the crazy people gang up there.. You could find me there aswell :D. It's now 2 days later and my legs still hurt like hell.. but damn was it worth it! This wednesday were going to Daft Punk in the Music Hall, which should be really good aswell.. But I dont think they can top this.. Tom and Ed and everyone who was there; ROCK ON!!

Here are some dutch reviews about the Amsterdam show:
http://www.nu.nl/new...en_publiek.html
this one is mine and the pictures are from my girlfriend. For her it was pretty hard to make photo's standing so close to the stage and having no light other that that great LED wall. For me, it was hard to be objective cause I had a wicked night:

Den.. you made mention of Jeanie's monster post... I think that you took care of it! ( c:
Good post though, very informative, lots of enthusiasm, to say the least.
Sounds like Amsterdam was a blast and can't wait for the chems to jump across the big pond to show the states some love. Keep the great reviews coming everyone!

Yeaahh.. Jeanie, I've read yor review of Roundhouse, London - amazing. I would have felt exactly the same, I think. As you wrote: "This is not just a gig , this is therapy." - yeah,
exactly, therapy. You know, what I thought about,
that electronic music itself every time sounds as it is, cause it's not rock, live instruments. Everytime you will get the best sound and the best sound level from elektronic live set. At this point, electronic music surpass live music. Ford posted message about Roundhouse: "That first clown freaked me the fuck out. ("Just get yourself high") " - exactly - it
freaked me out as well :) It's such a great (and simple at the same time) idea - to film live boy saying those frazes. And it has such a powerfull effect. Yeaahh.. And those paintballs were (from Electronic Battle Weapon,
was it 8 ? yeahh) - I can't figure out the figures), mentioned by Jeanie, they were in Amsterdam as well - the crowd went mental on that part. However, personally I like another track from EBW 9 Yeah. It was a bit pitty for me, that they didn't play the whole "Get Yourself High". Cause I love this track's live version so much.
And again, "Out Of Control", emerging from that "It Doesn't Matter" thing from time to time -I loved that. It was really hard-
party-clubbing-dance-land paradise. I was surprised as well, "Believe" (personaly I don't like this track so much) sounded very good and just terriffic live. And, again, I thought, that "The Golden Path" will be followed
by "Elektrobank", but it didn't - that annoyed me a bit (cause I loved that set from Chile, 2004). All in all, I haven't got "We Are The Night" album yet (I'm always late). I just recognized "Do It Again" few times and a "Salmon Dance" (heard that on Radio 1 Ed and Tom interview about a 2 weeks ago on
Wednesday, 7:00 PM); So, I couldn't recognise all the titles of new tracks.
What did they play after "Believe" @ Heineken Music Hall ? I just remember that I liked the track. [Now I think that track must be "Burst Generator"] - really my taste of chems!
Anyway, NME (New Musical Express) gave just 6/10 out of ten to "We Are The Night". Unlike DJ Mag, ofcourse. Cause we love electronic dance music. Peace.
