So I have to upgrade the major componants of my system which I originally built from scratch. It was like a child to me, something I brought into this world, but it has decided to turn against me as many children do with their parents.

So here is what i'm thinking about getting

Motherboard: Asus A8V Rev.2 Deluxe (Socket 939) Motherboard (MB-083-AS) 77.49 http://www.overclock...Socket_939.html

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939) 130.80 http://www.scan.co.u...roductID=146522

CPU Fan: Zalman Flower CNPS6000-CU Silent Socket A CPU Cooler

http://www.overclock...Zalman_121.html 24.68

RAM: Haven't looked into this yet.

I built a desktop too recently so I know names and equipment alright. The only thing that I would recommend to you iguanna is that you might look for a mobo that has PCI-Expess and AGP. PCI express is the new like socket/technology that Graphics cards are going in, so even though you may not have a pci-e gfx card now, you might want to leave your option open to buying one down the line.

I don't have any benchmark data but that cpu cooler seems a little iffy to me, because it has no fan. Why'd you choose that fan. and seeing as it has no fan then your going to need a big beefy fan to exhaust all that heat out of your case.

and for ram since that mobo has dual channel ram support. buy two sticks of identical RAM. Like my mobo has dual channel support so I got two sticks of hyper x (high end ram) 512mb for a total of 1 gig.

also what gfx card are you thinking about getting.

I have an ATI Radeon Pro Saphire 9600 already. Also have an Audigy 2 ZS sound card.

The CPU Fan is a quiet fan, and it's highly recommended but I have found it wont work with this CPU so I have to look elsewhere.

Damn, should I really look at getting a PCI Express card then? fuck, thought I had the m/b I needed but you had to go mess things up for me.

well it's it's whether or not you want the system to be able to upgraded in the future. If you dont care. dont buy it. But it might be nice in a couple of years when more of the high performance gfx cards are on pci-e you can use them.

Yeah I know you're right, well back to the research I guess. It actually all depends on how much more this is going to cost me, I don't have money trees, just apples trees which hold no value because the supermarket can under cut my prices.
