OK, so I blared Fuck Up Beats today when I was driving to work (and arrived there even more deaf, thank you)
I listened for that bit, even skipped backward a couple of times because I'm compulsive like that, and I think I could sort of make out what you're describing. Sort of being the operative phrase here. But it's overshadowed by the sweeping bits and metallic sounding rattley noises and it's not hitting me too clearly.
Will have to listen again. I'm sure if I had a decent pair of headphones I'd be able to hear it with better clarity.

jeanie,
you really dont hear it?
its hidden under like a crash and doesnt stick out, but its clear as day once you notice it.
its like @ 1.01, 1.09 and 1.22
it took my mate a fair few listens to hear it, its scary... :(
its got more low pass filter on it and a little more reverb, and some pingpong delay.
you have to hear, ittl scare.
I can fucking hear it now! This is the shit. It is so subtle.
I listened to the start of Three Little Birdies Down Beats and got the guitar sample in my head and then listened to FUB where you said and it's there.
It is really obvious at 1.23 because there's no drums to contend with, just the vocal. Now I can hear it at 1.01 and 1.09 too like you said. Mad, mad, mad stuff.

Ok, it's clear as day on my PC speakers, it's not hidden at all. I've just a distorted guitar chord, it seems quite powerful coz of the reverb on it. When I listened for it, I thought "is that what he's talking about? That always been part of the song for me!"
(No offence badge-man, it's just the way I hear it)

I was listening to EPD this morning on the boombox in the kitchen and the recurring power chord sample from Three Little Birdies Down Beats in Fuck Up Beats was as clear as a bell on it. I think it's because the speakers have a really narrow spread, so the mixing sounds less subtle. Really caught my attention when doing the washing up. :)

You know, I just... I can't hear that distorted power chord. I just can't, and it makes me sad. Maybe I'm hearing it but it doesn't stick out because it's always been there? Or maybe one day it'll come clear, my third ear will open up and I'll reach that perfect state of aural nirvana...

So how bout you? Have you heard something a million times, yet something managed to stick out that you didn't hear before? Any personal revelations such as finally clicking with a song maybe you didnt appreciate as much before?
It happens to me nearly everytime I listen to Amon Tobin...
