Watching an episode of the US port of Top Gear, just out and still in the first season. Already a fan of the original thanks to netflix, so I had some high expectations for my country's version when I first heard about it.

Wasn't disappointed at all, surprisingly. Aside from the commercial breaks, lack of Stig jokes and Brittish accents, it's exactly the same as the original. Content, critique, visual style, even the set design is almost identical. They did a seriously good job with transferring it over here. I mostly enjoy actually knowing who the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car Big Star, Small Car  celebrities are. Tim Allen was in the last episode I watched, and that was fun, especially since he swore a ton and I'd never seen that before (only know him from Toy Story and the Santa Clause...).

What I don't like about the show are the hosts. They're not quite as engaging as James, Jeremy and Richard are, their banter seems a little forced, and they're not having that much fun doing it. They could have picked much more intersting/entertaining people.

FUCK THE STIG! What a cunt.

I watched the trailer for the US version and it hurt my eyes and ears. The presenters are so characterless and uninteresting. Top Gear is all about personality and they lack it.

Exactly! The bearded one can be slightly entertaining but the other two are awfully bland. Hopefully the History Channel fixes this, otherwise the show will tank, no question.

I like Top Gear but now I'm wary because of what's been said about the hosts. But then, sometimes it take a few episodes for a show to find its stride.

We finished watching Arrested Development (humorous and cleverly written show which ended too soon) and we're on to Spartacus. Spartacus is very much a guys' show which is fine, but personally I find it corny and gratuitous. Not a big fan of bullet-time filming when it's overdone like it is in this series. Spartacus is certainly no Rome, but I'm only a couple episodes in so hopefully the characters will develop some more depth.

Yeah that was really good and it did end sooner than people wanted but i'm ok with that. Running Wilde is by the same creators and was aired last year. I enjoyed it :D

I watched the first episode and found it really lame, to the point of not watching any more. Maybe I should try a few more, sometimes it takes a few episodes to get into the comedy of a new show.

I only started watching it because of Peter Serafenowich <3 but it's not 'lame'. It's got some clever jokes in there.

I really enjoyed Exit Through The Gift Shop. I just saw your facecrackin update... Here's that article I mentioned:

http://www.fastcompa...e-prankumentary

Further down the page, someone wrote a huge thesis on how they conclude this is a hoax that's worth a read if you have a moment or few.

I just watched it  Loved it, but I had no idea it wasn't about Banksy...but is it for real. I want it to be, I really do. It could be, he is French after all. If it is a hoax it's fantastically brilliant and I think this quote sums up his probable genius nicely:

Quote

The low evidence of sales on artnet.com also supports the argument that the art world hasn’t really been as exploited by media-hype as the film suggests. With both shows held outside of commercial galleries, no professional dealers have had their reputation on the line in making fake claims of high sales. However, if Guetta is a hoax, there also exists the possibility that these artworks are actually produced by Banksy himself, in a style deliberately intended to suggest inferior artistic skill. - Rebecca Cannon

Not watching now but... This scene is the most intense, most breath-holding scene I've ever seen in a TV Show.

I HATE BRIAN COX!

Is anybody watching Game of Thrones (HBO)? It's great! My friend has read the books and he says it's pretty close to them so far. I am really enjoying it, even though fantasy isn't normally my kind of thing.

Yes! We are also watching Game Of Thrones. It's great - stash is a big fan of the books so he was looking forward to the show when he first got word of production.

I just watched the first episode last night. The books are very good, and it is great to see them made into a decent production! Love it.
