Everyone stop listening to electrorock, fidget house, dubstep & all that bullshit, and big beat'll come back.
Btw, for those who miss breakbeats, there was a video game, called Beetle Adventure Racing, released on N64 (always old school) which had a great OST, mostly break/big beat oriented, you can download it here : http://www.sendspace.com/file/rl7afu
And for those who want a preview : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=FKfFtVLUs5w
Enjoy !

don't get me wrong big beat is cool, its how i fell for electronic music, but electronic music always moves on quickly and i can never really see it coming back, breaks is dead and im sure the current trend of electro/mash up will do aswell, its just how things work in this type of music.

The 1080° Snowboarding ost was cool too :D Mostly Breakbeat/BigBeat/Drum'n'bass

That some "big beat" tunes sound a bit dated doesn't mean that the sound itself is dead. You can alway push the envelope and go a step beyond. There's big beat and there's big beat, you know. It depends on how a track is structured and thought out.. The term big beat doesn't necessarily have to be linked with only compressed loops and hard beats. It can be clever, it can have build-ups, it can transport a certain atmosphere. It's got nothing to do with the genre rather with the artist/musician and his way of producing.

electronic music has never been cut and dry. lines between 'genres' have always been blurred. big beat was indeed what got me into electronic music, but that was just the start. i like where its progressing.
dont wish for a repeat of 90s big beat gold, wish it to be bigger, better, and more powerful than it ever was.

@BenJ and Maboul
Thanks for the flashback guys!
Cool music always seems to be in "sporty" videogames (and sports in general for that matter.) The last cool original music before games started branding everything has to Jet Set Radio Future.

This thread got me to pull out Fatboy Slim's 'You've Come A Long Way Baby'. It has never really been a favorite of mine. Tjat said, I was rocking it full tilt driving back from the University tonight. It reminded me of how much fun bigbeat was. I miss Build It Up Tear It Down style tracks. Lets take a listen shall we...

That being said....I miss late 90's fashion in some sense. I put on a button makng event at my university the other day and had a whole bunch of old 90s fashion magazines. Looking through them I realized how cool (and attractive) the fashion looked compared to today in my mind. There isn't much fashion I consider 'HOT' today. It seems tired and unflattering in most cases.
I also want to play some Lo Fi's at this time for more nostalgia.

My first Lo Fi's track. Also love their 'Tentacles Pimping on The Keys'. Another gem from the Skint stable of time which produced brilliance.
@Maboul, that is not the first place I've read saying play Beettle Adventure Racing. I think some force is telling me to buy it.

@Profunk
You're prabably thinking of Hyper's 2 disc dj mix 'Wired': http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B0001HAI2M
I have it, and it is an awesome mix. I'd say it's second only to 'In Glint'.
