Uh, Daft Punk's vibe is deinfitely in line with current gay culture. That's pretty undeniable.

So is Tiga, but nobody rips on him. I mean, the Scissor Sisters don't even get flamed like that around here.

Well yes, bu the fact is, I've never heard of those two. Even if I have and just don't know it, certainly not as much as Daft Punk.

Tiga is one of the biggest DJs in the world (iDJ mag named him person of the year in dance music last year), and his album Sexor is definetly a lot gayer even than Discovery/Interstella 5555. ACIDCHILDREN saw him spin at Fabric last weekend, I think.

Scissor Sisters are one of the better second-tier pop acts out there. Broke out on the basis of their campy, disco-dance cover of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb'. Recently released their second album. Influences include the Beegees, Elton John, and pretty much any other 'gay' element you can think of. Most or all of the band members are openly gay and their interviews, stage show, music, and lyrics reflect this.

I saw Tiga at Fabric with Acidchildren last weekend, his DJ sets are anything but gay - he played some stomping tunes. I'd disagree about his album being gayer than Discovery, there are a couple of sugar-happy tracks, but hey, the Chems have a couple of sugar-happy tracks, and that doesn't make them gay.

On the other hand, I can't stand the Scissor Sisters. Not only did they destroy a masterpiece in the form of Comfortably Numb, but they seem to keep showing up at festivals, even headlining them. Why can't the world see that they are the 21st century version of the Village People? And you wouldn't see them headlining any festival! (Except maybe G-A-Y)

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then. I really think Sexor is a gay album, which doesn't prevent it at all from being a really good album. I don't think Tiga himself is gay, but he is deffo a gay community icon and many of his tunes (particularly his covers) are infused with that wink-and-a-nod sense of irony.

Really like the Scissor Sisters' first album. Pop genius. Not into that kind of sound right now, so I haven't picked up the second album yet. And I really like their cover of 'Comfortably Numb', a very clever rework. They probably ARE the 21st c. version of the Village People, but I don't think that's necessarily an insult.

It's nice that Groove Armada were so cool to you anType, and that they put on a great show.

I saw them at a festival, Nocturnal Wonderland, a few years back and their set was pretty good. I don't remember there being a live percussionist - but I remember their set was moody on the funky side which was a welcome break from what most of the other tents and stages had going on.

Jaxx aren't gay, they're just retarded. No one here has any respect for them since they dissed the chems...

hahaha, Bosco!!

I didn't write anyone in (sorry Tom and Ed!) and the voting line was pretty small. A lot of the propositions I voted Yes on have passed, however it irks me when props for more government funding for public schools get denied.

The big ones for me were the cigarette taxes (which did not pass) and the abortion waiting lists (which did not pass) so I am happy with those results. The oil tax was another big Yes one for me, however it did not pass.

So umm.. they ask you if you would like to pay more taxes and not tell you where that money would go to? I would imagine people voting 'no' on any taxes in that case.

Uh... no. Even in the US it doesn't work like that. Of course it is disclosed how the money would be spent!! It's up to the people to read the voter information that is sent to them so they have a better understanding of what the hell is on the ballots. It's not that hard to research this stuff - people are just lazy and into the whole instant gratification thing - it doesn't affect them directly right here right now, then fuck taxes as many feel it is not their problem.

We don't have Proposition votes here very often and in many ways I wouldn't mind if we did.

I'm using iTunes and it's going reasonably well, but I'm maybe about 1/8 of the way through. Wish I'd started earlier in the day.

Can't believe how much I've spent on music when I think about it.
