Looks like the record companies are really cracking down to keep this under wraps.
Yes, it sucks that the promos have been pulled. The ones who got them should count themselves lucky!!
I sound like a broken record but it is illegal to distribute or make profit from promotional or advance copies of cd's. It *usually* says so right on the cd either printed right on the sleeve, or stickered. And technically speaking, promotional copies are property of the record company, therefore the record companies have a right to demand the promo back... if they were to go that far. This doesn't really stop people from buying and selling promos - never has and probably never will but I've known 2 record stores that closed down because of this. And I've known people (like my husband, a looong time ago before p2p sharing) who've lost their jobs at record stores for getting caught selling promos. It doesn't sound like it should be a big deal, but it is. It's just one or two promos, right - no harm, no foul... But in this day and age where it's so easy to rip them and put them on the internet for all the world to download.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
