^ That song and especially his performance have seriously grown on me ever since I posted that, and now I really want to see them live. Talk about honest passion as odd as it might be, you don't see that often enough in music currently.

How did Jagwar Ma go down? Big fan of the band, and based on the few clips I've seen of them playing they seem pretty formidable live, but Gabriel's voice is pretty hit and miss.
Well this one may be down to expectations. I had this idea that Jagwar Ma were like Temples but with more of a dance groove. Perhaps that's partly because they have both
remixed each other. I had already seen Temples live, so imagined a similar band set-up but with added synths. In reality JM were set up more like a dance act with added guitars. A big table at the back with lots of electronic 'stuff' which reminded me of Rick Smiths um 'table' (I couldn't see what the electronics were. Probably completely different to Underworlds. Don't beat me up!), plus a guy on guitar, and the the singer with a gizmo (technical term!) for processing/repeating his vocals. Tim 'Charlatans' Burgess was there and later tweeted that the place was bouncing. He was right, the crowd went nuts. I thought the vocals were ok, but I don't have the album so wasn't really comparing.
Instead of some psychedelic sounds that you could shake your ass to, it felt like a full on fist pumping kind of a thing. I'll admit I've moshed to Born Slippy at Underworld gigs before now, so I can't criticize. It just wasn't quite what I was looking for from JM. But if I was 18 I probably would have loved it.
Oh one more thing. Gabriel wore a baseball cap back to front with his hair hanging down the sides. He reminded me of Harry Enfield's Kevin character from the Kevin & Perry sketches/film, which meant that I found it really hard to take him seriously!
