So I've heard, but I'm not sure I buy it. If, and only if, Real outright declare him surplus to requirements would he consider coming back. Even then, would Benitez splash the cash that Real will surely want? LFC would look awfully foolish paying more than the 8 million (+ Nunez, heh) they received for him.

On a more depressing note, SWP has declared his interest in transferring to Chelsea.

What a great free transfer! I think spurs will have a good next season. I also predict Man Utd will do even worse and that Chelsea will sadly win the title again :'( Also looks like Celtic will be crashing out of champions league after the 5-0 loss last night.

And Liverpool's injury woes continue from last year as Dudek, Traore, Crouch, and Zenden are all already injured, adding to Kewell and Gonzalez (who can't even get a work permit, FFS!) on the DL..... Ugh.

Everton won't finish that high, but should stay top-half of the table. Owen won't be going to Newcastle; in fact, I'd be surprised if he left Real at all.

I'd be happy with that top four, though, to behonest.

Chelsea probably will win Champions League, unfortunately.

Everton didnt have a flying start but I still think they will improve on last season. It looks like owen wont be leaving just yet however there is talk of him returning to liverpool now, maybe in the january transfer window.

you reckon everton are going to finish higher than 4th this year? after selling gravesen, having to deal with additional matches (champs league) and buying the spurs rejects (davies & anderton) and the ultimate man u reject (phill neville)?? added to liverpools resurgence and 'boro/spurs snapping at the heels????

.

your having a laugh my friend :P

;)

Actually, I think Neville was a good pickup for Everton. He adds that winning mentality, is a ballwinner and gives versatility, which will be a must in a rotating lineup that will be necessary to deal with the extra games.

Nonetheless, Everton won't be able to finish as high as last year and I don't think they'll stick around very long in the UEFA Cup either. If they qualify for the UEFA Cup for next year, I think that would be a decent year for them.

And the way they're playing by half-time today, Liverpool will be lucky to join them in the UEFA.... :( (Well, not that bad, but a boring match so far. Playing a lone striker should only be done against perhaps Chelsea and Arsenal.)

How do you watch the live matches if you live so far away and its a total different time scale etc?

1. You must be a devoted fan :P

2. You must have some class channel broadcasting over there?

Tell me, because you live there and stuff.. is there going to be another Hockey season or are they still going to go on strike?

One of our sports channels on regular cable carries three games of the Premiership every Saturday, starting at 6 AM. Right now, as the Liverpool game just finished, it is 1:30 in the afternoon.

A premium sports channel carries most of the midweek matches, and a third (regular) channel carries the Champions League feeds (from ESPN, with American commentary.... bleh!).

And yes, I am a devoted fan. :D Unfortunately, I work most Saturdays while the game is on, but I always tape it and watch it when I get home. Today I was fortunate enough to have the day off.

As for hockey, the lockout is over and the season will start in early October, I believe. Didn't think I would be as excited about it as I am, but I'm hoping Tampa can repeat as Stanley Cup champions.
